The Philosophy and Process of Context Furniture Each design begins as an outline; a profile intended to communicate the essence the object, an ideal graphic icon of ÒchairÓ or ÒstoolÓ. A hardwood stripe is incorporated in every piece, reinforcing the marriage of craft with graphic, industrial with natural, mass production with hand craftsmanship. Integrity of workmanship and planning drives each stage of development and construction of Context Furniture. Each piece of furniture provides an open window onto this process by exposing each layer of development in the final work.

Designer Profile Scott Klinker believes a great product should inspire your imagination. Klinker heads the graduate 3D design program at the world-renowned Cranbrook Academy of Art as Designer-in-Residence, where he also received his MFA in 1996. After years of designing in more conventional corporate contexts, like as an in-house designer at Ericsson, or as senior staff at IDEO, Klinker ventured to Japan in 1999 to lead a product design program at the Kanazawa International Design Institute and founded his independent studio, Scott Klinker Product Design - focused on developing licensed designs for contract furniture, household goods and toys. His Truss Furniture Collection was developed in partnership with Context Furniture.
